CanCOLD is composed of experienced researchers who have a national and international leadership signature profile in respiratory health.
This interdisciplinary team is comprised of highly skilled and passionate individuals who are all leaders in their field with a strong sense of standards and ethics.
LEAD INVESTIGATOR

Dr. Jean Bourbeau
Director of the Respiratory, Epidemiology and Clinical Research Unit (RECRU), Montreal Chest Institute, McGill University, Montreal
Since 1995, Dr. Bourbeau has dedicated his clinical and epidemiology research efforts to helping those suffering from COPD. Currently, he is the Director of the Montreal Chest Institute’s COPD clinic and pulmonary rehabilitation program, and the director of the COPD Respiratory Health Network of the Fond de la Recherche en santé du Quebec (FRSQ). Dr Bourbeau has lead and devised, with other health professionals from the Quebec province, the renowned self-management COPD program called “Living well with COPD”. This program implemented worldwide has not only been shown to reduce hospital admissions by 40%, but it also demonstrated that such programs are able to reduce the economic burden of this disease

In addition to her role as an advisory member of GOLD, Dr. Wan Tan is also a member of the advisory group to the World Lung Health Committee and the International Relations Committee of the American Thoracic Society. She is currently the lead investigator for the Canadian multicentre prevalence study “COLD (Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease)”; this is the foundation for the CanCOLD Study.
